Two-factor authentication at the TU Dresden

Secure digital login is a security function that requires users to enter a second security feature (second factor) in addition to their password before they can log in digitally. Secure digital login is therefore also known as two-factor authentication (2FA). This measure was decided by the Rectorate of TU Dresden in view of the permanently high risk of cyber attacks of all kinds.

The second factor, also known as a token, is either a smartphone app with a one-time password or a secret character string (known as an indexed secret). This is a numbered character string, several digits of which are queried by the system during the login process. The second factor can be generated by all members and guests of TU Dresden via the self-service portal.

A second factor must also be created for function logins. This should be carried out by the person responsible and the procedure is exactly the same as the process for creating the second factor for your own person.

Please note: Make sure that you have access to your coupon ID, which was given to you when you enrolled / were hired. You can also find the coupon ID on the profile page of your ZIH login in the Self-Service-Portal. The coupon ID is essential for the recovery of your second factor if it is lost.
